Goals from Pepe, Helder Postiga and Silvestre Varela earned Portugal the important 3-2 victory. Nicklas Bendtner scored a brace in consolation.
What this result means
The victory for Portugal blows the group wide open and gives them the important tie-breaker advantage over Denmark, since they are tied on goal differential. The challenge only gets tougher with the Dutch being their final opponents on Sunday. The Danes will feel unlucky in letting the match slip through their fingers after doing so well to battle back from a two-goal deficit. They will hope the Germans have already secured top spot by Sunday, making the likelihood of playing a weaker side a distinct possibility which only heightens their chances of making it into the next round
