Same Old Dutch Story

Denmark posted a surprising 1-0 victory over the Netherlands on Saturday at Euro 2012, making up for the loss suffered in South Africa two years prior in similar circumstances.

The Dutch were able to score in every single of their qualifying matches (eight) and surprisingly were held at bay by Denmark’s back-up goalkeeper Stephan Andersen, not to mention a fine performance by captain Daniel Agger in leading his troops at the back.

Manager Bert van Marwijk now has a mountain to climb if the Oranje expect to make it out of the group stage for the seventh consecutive time. On the other hand, the Danes earned much needed breathing room in a tough group.
