90 and Counting...

Lionel Messi continued his assault on the all-time goal-scoring record by notching his 22nd brace of this calendar year and sits on 90 goals with one match left to play in 2012. Barcelona extended their lead at the top of La Primera to nine points over Atletico Madrid with a 4-1 victory at the Camp Nou. The battle between Radamel Falcao and Messi started with the Atleti striker opening the scoring through a first-half goal, but that lasted all but five minutes.

Barca fought their way back into the match with relative ease, scoring four straight through Adriano and Sergio Busquets, before Messi bagged a double in the second-half.

We are watching the greatest player of any football generation without a doubt. The iconic number 10 is so good, FIFA has to create records for him to smash. Whats next on the list?
