Zenit St. Petersburg's largest supporters group Landscrona has posted a ridiculous and discriminatory letter on their website, giving it the name "Selection 12 manifesto", demanding the club refrain from purchasing black players and keep with its tradition in an effort to maintain their national identity--it was quite nauseating to say the least.
The big-money transfers over the summer which brought Alex Witsel and Hulk to St. Petersburg--a predominately right-wing region, went against the culture of the club's history. Zenit are the only Russian side never to have signed an African player, which is quite shocking.
The fan club even deny being racist, despite only willing to accept white players from Slavic nations, and took their prejudice further by opposing sexual minorities as well. The ignorant behaviour was appalling, and this bunch of hoodlums should be denounced by the club immediately.
