Ranieri Wants Beckham at Monaco

Monaco could be the next destination in David Beckham's storied career. Bankrolled by Russian billionaire Dimitry Rybolovlev, AS Monaco are pushing for promotion in Ligue 2 in France and their Italian manager Claudio Ranieri has set his sights on English football's poster boy.

Is it possible? More possible than Beckham donning another Premier League jersey other than his beloved Manchester United. Monaco has the flash and style fitting for English football's royal family, and the competition also suits the aging 37 year-old midfielder. His experience and presence in the dressing room has been singled out by Ranieri as qualities that would help his squad of youngsters.

The ongoing rumour of Beckham moving to the capital of France and joining Carlo Ancelotti's PSG is far-fetched, considering his age and the style of the Parisian club. It would definitely sell a lot of jerseys, but from a football stand-point, it doesn't make any sense.

The project at Monaco might intrigue Beckham, helping a young side get back into the top-flight, while living the good life in the posh area of Fontvieille in the sovereign state. Away matches in Ligue 2 might not be as glamorous, but the Beckham factor cannot be understated, and sell-outs would be a common occurrence.

It would be a major coup, and would benefit the player, club and league.
