Give Pesch A Chance

Paul Peschisolido - Notts County v Burton Albion

The Canadian Soccer Association president Victor Montagliani announced an interim manager will be temporarily installed for the January friendlies against Denmark and the United States. After the resignation of Stephen Hart following the disastrous performance in Honduras which eliminated Canada from World Cup qualifying, the job has remained vacant, and realistically is not the most sought after positions in the soccer world.

In saying that, one former Canadian international has been rumoured to want the responsibility of rebuilding the national men's program. Experienced ex-striker Paul Peschisolido has the pedigree to take on the role, just glance at his resume if you don’t believe me.

The 41 year-old enjoyed a successful professional career in England, spanning almost 20 years, and became the first Canadian to manage overseas—taking charge of Burton Albion in the English fourth-tier for almost three years. The appointment seems like a no-brainer, yet, the CSA is not rushing to fill the vacancy. With the CONCACAF Gold Cup starting in July of next year, the decision is not urgent.

But, my question is why not Pesch?
